![]() First Foreign Cavalry Regiment insignia He volunteered in, 1907, to go to the Sahara Region, with the 2eme regiment. My Father was first a Chasseur d’Afrique, then a Spahi, and, later, a Husard. These men were extremely “fearless” and they all had the ability of being very skillful horsemen. The Spahis are called “The Knights of the Dessert". With their dashing outfits and rigid discipline they could never, ever become "weaklings". My Father's friends, The French Foreign Legionnaires lived in a terrain that did not welcome anyone. These brave soldiers, may have well saved my Father’s life, or my Father, theirs, I would like to thank and honor the Legionnaires. My Father wrote: “Et puisque le petits ruisseaux font les grandes rivieres.” For me, The French Foreign Legion is that “ Because all the small Brooks, make Great rivers ". Always, may the Legionnaires continue to defend France as they have so honorably done in the past. A comment for those who do not know… Look up, Camerone, and you will see how valiantly the Legionnaires stick up for each other in a battle…to understand, the French Foreign Legion, one must read about CAMERONE. Also, read their Code of Honor…and see how close you come in bravery and dedication to your Country that these brave men have and that fight together becoming ONE!!! THE LEGIONAIRES BRING GLORY TO FRANCE. A soldier will bring Glory to His Country…his family will rejoice and be proud....a soldier can be a hero...and his heroic performance commended by his Country and family. |
